Lifting the veil
The following link is to a photo essay of several women in Yemen entitled, "Showcase: Lifting the Veil, Part Way."
The photos are beautiful. I wonder--some people, like one of the people who commented on the slide show, think that Muslim women's dress promotes less objectification (is that a word?) of women based on appearance. I have my doubts about whether it works that way.
I also wonder the same thing, TigerLily. I truly doubt the dress promotes less objectification (I think it is a word!). Seems that more than protect women it limits and controls those who do not see the dress as a rich part of themselves and their culture.
